Velocity head

Velocity head is the kinetic portion of the head. In accordance with DIN EN ISO 17769-1, it is the kinetic energy of the fluid handled per unit weight. Alongside pressure head and geodetic height the velocity head is determined in the Bernoulli equation (see Fluid mechanics) as follows:
