KSB Group helps modernise Moneypoint power station in Ireland
The Moneypoint fossil-fuelled power station located at the mouth of the River Shannon plays an important role in ensuring the stability of the Irish electricity grid. It is part of the long-term Green Atlantic @Moneypoint project and will serve as the basis for Ireland’s future wind energy and hydrogen supply.
Following the decision to modernise the technical facilities, there was an urgent need for action regarding the ageing SEZ 1400 cooling water pumps installed at the power station. Being part of the cooling concept, these pumps make a significant contribution to the stability of the entire system.
KSB Service GmbH managed to outshine the competition in a procurement procedure and secure the biggest retrofit contract in the history of the Bremen factory.
In addition to the overhaul of the installed pumps, the operator also ordered two new pumps and a comprehensive spare parts package for the upcoming refurbishments of further power stations on the east coast of Ireland.
