Swing check valve

The swing check valve is a valve which prevents reverse flow through the pump. Check valves are the variants mainly used for medium-sized to very large nominal diameters.

Swing check valves cause low head losses because deflection of the flow is minimal. The flow resistance depends on the flow velocity, as this governs the disc position. Swing check valves which are dependent on gravity must be installed horizontally, or vertically with the flow approach from below. See Fig. 13 Valves
