Strain gauging

Strain gauging in the context of centrifugal pumps is used primarily to determine the strength of pump casings and impellers as well as to measure axial thrust, torque (see Power measurement) and the torsional strain of pump shafts. To take extension measurements, strain gauges (SGs) are fixed (glued/bonded, welded) to the component in question.
