A problem not only the operators of waste water treatment plants are aware of: Sewage, grey water and surface water often contain solids. As the flow velocity decreases when the fluid leaves the inlet line, solids increasingly deposit in the pipelines. This can be prevented by floor slopes (also known as "benching").
