Control systems for greater efficiency

Since systems in water and waste water applications frequently work under strongly fluctuating load profiles, it pays to use control systems to not only operate pumps as efficiently as possible but also conserve valuable energy. This mainly involves frequency inverters that allow demand-driven pump operation, or systems that enable the pump to control itself.

Our KSB PumpDrive provides you with a self-cooling frequency inverter to control pumps through a continuously variable speed adjustment, while the smart KSB PumpMeter has pressure sensors to help you dynamically control individual pumps. Both systems can be easily integrated into your existing pump population. Thanks to its extensive features, the LevelControl control unit ensures a high degree of system availability.

Comprehensive pump monitoring pays off in more ways than one. You reap the benefits of better energy security and greater operating reliability. If pumps do not operate within their optimum range, their energy consumption is disproportionately high and they may also experience premature wear due to undetected vibrations, for example. In the worst-case scenario, this may result in costly breakdowns that could have been avoided.

PumpDrive 2/PumpDrive 2 Eco

PumpDrive 2/PumpDrive 2 Eco

Modular self-cooling frequency inverter that enables continuously variable speed control of asynchronous and synchronous reluctance motors by means of analog standard signals, a field bus or the control panel. As PumpDrive is self-cooling, it can be mounted on a motor, on the wall or in a control cabinet. Up to six pumps can be controlled without needing an additional controller.

PumpDrive R (KSB202)

PumpDrive R (KSB202)

Modular self-cooling frequency inverter that enables continuously variable speed control of asynchronous and synchronous reluctance motors by means of analog standard signals, a field bus or the control panel. As PumpDrive R is self-cooling, it can be mounted on the wall or in a control cabinet. Up to six pumps can be controlled without needing an additional controller. PumpDrive R extends the power range of PumpDrive 2 up to a rated power of 250 kW (standard) / 1400 kW (on request).

LevelControl Basic 2

LevelControl Basic 2

Level control unit for controlling and protecting either one or two pumps. DOL starting up to 4 kW, star-delta starting up to 22 kW. Higher ratings on request.

Monitoring systems for increased transparency, safety and reliability

Modern sensors connected to analysis software can provide valuable transparency and show you which pumps have potential for optimisation or require maintenance. KSB is a market leader in remote monitoring and predictive maintenance. Both KSB Guard for dry-installed centrifugal pumps and AmaControl for submersible motor pumps and mixers provide operationally critical status data – in real time.

  • The KSB Guard sensor unit has various sensors that monitor whether a pump is running within its optimum operating parameters. The data collected is then securely encrypted and transferred to the KSB Cloud for algorithmic analysis. If there is a problem, you are notified immediately. Integration into the process control system and critical IT infrastructure is therefore not necessary. However, it is possible to establish a data interface to the status data in the KSB Cloud.
  • KSB's protection module, AmaControl, is the right solution for monitoring your submersible motor pumps as it provides real-time information about the status of the pump sets and facilitates data analysis and parameterisation. The convenient KSB INTspector app gives you round-the-clock access to all relevant status data. This module provides early fault alerts and information about preventive maintenance, thus ensuring the long-term, fault-free as well as safe and reliable operation of your system.

How to digitalise water and waste water pumps successfully

Protecting submersible motor pumps effectively and, at the same time, networking them digitally requires a smart solution. Such as KSB's AmaControl protection module, which offers a range of options. Find out more about digital condition monitoring of pumps and mixers.

AmaControl

AmaControl

Protection module for water and waste water products as all-in-one device. Depending on the variant, it can be used for motor temperature measurement, bearing temperature measurement, leakage measurement, vibration measurement, voltage measurement and current measurement as well as for diagnosing a pump, pump system or submersible mixer to ensure trouble-free and reliable operation.
