KSB Largest Caliber Vertical Split Case Pump Factory Delivery Ceremony in China
The Phase I main trunk of combined sewage is the largest sewage mainline within the Zhuyuan sewage area in Shanghai. The Peng Yuepu Pumping Station, located within it, can be likened to the "heart" of the Phase I main trunk of combined sewage. It is the pump station responsible for transporting the largest volume of sewage from the central urban area.
The pumping station, with a designed capacity of 40.5 cubic meters per second, was initially constructed in the early 1990s. Since its operation commenced in 1993, it has played a crucial role in conveying sewage from the Puxi area. The station is equipped with eight vertical split-case sewage pumps, supplied by the predecessor of Shanghai KSB Pumps Co., Ltd., the Shanghai Pump Factory. Over its thirty-year service life, these pumps have earned high praise from the owners for their stable operation and low maintenance rate. However, given the backdrop of rapid urban development, the aging equipment and systems of the pumping station have become a pressing issue, making refurbishment imperative.
In the first half of 2022, Shanghai KSB Pumps Co., Ltd. undertook an order for the pump retrofit of this project, which included four vertical split-case pumps. Each pump has a rated flow rate of 6.75 cubic meters per second and an outlet diameter of 1600mm. These pumps are connected to 1700KW high-pressure motors via universal drive shafts measuring nearly 7 meters in length.
To ensure the progress of the pumping station refurbishment project, KSB overcame various adverse factors during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period. They deployed a team of experts for calculations, analysis, and design work, including CFD simulations, CAE vibration analysis, and structural redesign. These efforts laid a solid foundation for the timely delivery of high-quality pump equipment.
Compared to the old pumps, the new vertical split-case pumps offer higher efficiency and a broader range of efficient operating conditions. Additionally, careful optimization of the pump's overall structure and shaft system has resulted in more stable operation and easier maintenance.
In March 2023, after successfully passing the performance acceptance tests, KSB successfully delivered the fourth vertical split-case pump. In the presence of representatives from the owner, the general contractor, and KSB employees, the delivery ceremony for the SPN1600 pump from the Peng Yuepu Pumping Station took place at KSB's Shanghai factory.
Thirty years ago, the old pumps from the Peng Yuepu Pumping Station were delivered from here, and thirty years later, the new pumps for the Peng Yuepu Pumping Station are still being delivered from here. We believe that the brand-new equipment will infuse new vitality into the "heart" of Peng Yuepu through these pumps.
