KSB GIW, Inc. (KSB GIW), a global leader in the design, manufacture, and application of heavy-duty centrifugal slurry pumps, has been awarded contracts to supply a range of high-performance slurry pumps at Teck’s Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Mine Life Extension (MLE) project in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Teck’s Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension Project is designed to prolong the mine's lifespan by upgrading its current infrastructure. This initiative supports the increasing demand for copper fueled by the shift toward a low-carbon economy. Over its duration, the project is anticipated to yield roughly 1.95 million additional tons of copper by processing around 900 million extra tons of ore.

As a longstanding partner of HVC, KSB GIW has consistently provided best-in-class slurry pump solutions. The mine's current operations rely heavily on GIW® MDX, GIW® LSA, and GIW® LCC slurry pumps, which are designed to deliver superior performance and durability. For the MLE project, KSB GIW is supplying an array of mill discharge pumps, SAG underflow pumps, final tailings pumps, froth pumps, and various in-plant and process pumps.

“KSB GIW is proud to announce that, in addition to our already extensive installed base at Highland Valley Copper Mine, we have secured a significant new order for GIW® slurry pumps to power the HVC MLE project,” said Gary Moore, Mining Manager at KSB GIW. “This contract further solidifies KSB GIW’s role as a preferred partner for HVC, and our continued commitment to innovating our products, services, and materials to maximize value for the mine.”

KSB GIW’s proven expertise and history of service excellence at HVC have cemented its role in supporting the mine’s continued success. With this new installation, KSB GIW reaffirms its commitment to driving operational efficiency and supporting HVC’s vital contributions to the copper supply chain.

“KSB GIW has a longstanding history of providing best-in-class GIW® slurry pumps and continual, reliable after-service support to HVC and their ongoing mine operations,” said Josh Foster, Sales Engineer at KSB GIW. “By combining new solutions with reutilization efforts, KSB GIW has established itself as a trusted provider of high-performance slurry pumps offering the best total cost of ownership. As a trusted partner to HVC, the continued usage of our pumps for the HVC MLE Project will once again allow us to demonstrate our commitment to our customers’ successful ongoing operations.”
