Optimised systems thanks to balancing valves

Large heating systems, air-conditioning systems or cooling circuits usually have long and branched piping systems in which the fluid handled must be transported over long distances to the consumer installation. In order to ensure that all consumer installations are supplied evenly and that the supply pump works as energy-efficiently as possible, hydraulic balancing is essential.

With a balancing valve from KSB the volume flow rate in the piping system can be optimally controlled, thus preventing oversupply or undersupply of individual consumer installations. Depending on the requirements of the application, the valves are available in various material variants compliant with DIN/EN.

Benefits of balancing valves from KSB

  • Shut-off, balancing  and measurement function in one single valve
  • Increased energy efficiency and cost savings due to minimum pressure losses and an even distribution of the fluid handled within the entire piping system at reduced pump input power
  • Increased service lile of the entire pump system
  • Direct, straightforward measurement with separate valve and measurement functions
  • Easy-to-use equipment and innovative technology

BOA-Control/ BOA‑Control IMS

BOA-Control/ BOA‑Control IMS

Balancing, measurement and shut-off valve with flanged ends to DIN/EN, constant measurement accuracy independent of differential pressures. Body in standard face-to-face length to EN 558/1, throttling plug, scaled position indicator, travel stop and insulating cap with anti-condensation feature; maintenance-free, full insulation possible. Also available with electrostatic plastic coating (EKB) and DVGW-certified for drinking water. With integrated ultrasonic sensors not coming into contact with the fluid handled. Stationary monitoring by means of BOATRONIC 100 MOD (24 V AC/DC, Modbus) of flow direction, volume flow rate and temperature, and optional recording of supply and return temperature as well as thermal output and quantity of heat. Mobile measurement of flow direction, volume flow rate and temperature using the BOATRONIC MS (battery powered) / BOATRONIC 100 (rechargeable battery powered) measuring computers.

Balancing valves in a nutshell

This is how balancing valves work

Balancing valves are control valves used for adjusting the volume flow rate when transporting fluids such as gas, air, water or coolants in pipes. They are often used in larger systems (such as heating systems) which have numerous branches in their piping and they enable hydraulic balancing by shutting off or balancing individual piping branches. This ensures an even distribution of the fluid handled within the entire piping system and prevents undersupply or oversupply.
