KSB Guard harvests valuable monitoring data on Spanish fields
KSB installed its KSB Guard monitoring system to ensure more effective usage and maintenance planning for the Páramo Bajo de León y Zamora irrigation cooperative in north-west Spain as part of a pilot project with five Omega irrigation pumps.

The project
Monitoring field irrigation pumps
armers in the Zamora region in north-west Spain joined forces to form an irrigation cooperative to manage irrigation of their fields more efficiently quite a few decades ago. Since then, water used to cultivate fields has been administered centrally in the Comunidad de Páramo.
Between eight and fourteen KSB Omega pumps operate at the different pump stations with the number depending on the size of the surface being irrigated. The pumps primarily run in the summer months when precipitation is not sufficient in this region and fields need to be irrigated to ensure they do not dry up.
The client
CCRR Páramo Bajo de León y Zamora
Founded back in 1953, the cooperative today employs a workforce of around 80 and is responsible for coordinating irrigation over a total of 17,000 hectares of agricultural land.
Background
A pilot project to promote KSB Guard
First and foremost, the project was aimed at raising awareness of the many benefits that KSB Guard offers as part of a KSBSupremeServ roll-out strategy in the León and Zamora region. KSB has already installed more than 100 Omega pumps for field irrigation in this area.
When selecting the sprinkler systems, management opted for modern, sophisticated technologies with the KSB Guard monitoring solution serving as an ideal complement. This solution provides the client with a valuable resource to compare the status of the pumps at the start of the irrigation period in early March, during the season itself and when it comes to an end. This now allows the experts to make valid decisions for the following season and plan preventive maintenance work very precisely for specific needs.
The trained KSBSupremeServ technicians needed just one day to fully install the system on pumps and set up everything on a technical level. KSB will use this successful pilot project to roll out the KSB Guard monitoring solution in other regions in Spain.
