Pays in many ways: using submersible motor pumps
Slim, cost-efficient, highly technically advanced: KSB’s submersible pumps in discharge tube in their slim design are a particularly good match for narrow sumps in the most diverse of applications, ranging from wastewater treatment to flood control or fish farms, for example.

Saves space and costs: installation in a discharge tube
A lot has changed over the last few decades in the planning of pumping stations. Wherever possible, it is common practice today to equip pumping stations with space- and investment-saving submersible motor pumps rather than with conventional, dry-installed pumps. The benefits for the operator are very clear: low energy costs paired with cost-efficient installation and maintenance work.
KSB’s submersible motor pumps of the Amacan type series, which were developed for such projects, are lowered into a discharge tube that matches the pump size. In the tapered fit provided, the pump automatically slides into its final installation position.
Energy-efficient motors, optimally matched combinations of motor and hydraulic system, and a range of different material variants round off the broad application range of this type series.
KSB’s Amacan is employed in irrigation and drainage pumping stations, waterworks, wastewater treatment plants, power stations, industrial water supply systems, water pollution control and flood control, for example. In these applications, it is especially suitable for pumping raw and pure water, e.g. groundwater, stormwater and river water as well as mechanically pre-treated wastewater and activated sludge.
For top hydraulic performance and more efficiency: compact submersible motor pumps
Many different aspects speak for using submersible motor pumps, e.g. low building costs and a reduced number of mechanical interfaces. These pumps do away with the need for universal-joint shafts, and their hydraulic system / motor combinations are ideally matched to the duty point.
The sensors fitted in the pump for monitoring vibrations, motor temperature, bearing temperature and leakage meet today’s requirements on modern pump technology. Such cutting-edge concepts enable operators to plan service and maintenance intervals more reliably and more cost-efficiently.
KSB submersible motor pumps: Amacan K with channel impeller
Amacan K, the wet-installed, single-stage, single-entry submersible motor pump in discharge tube with channel impeller, is relatively undemanding regarding the structural design of its place of installation. It is ideally suited to handling pre-treated, chemically neutral wastewater, industrial effluent and sewage, fluids that have been pre-treated by screens or overflow sills and do not contain any stringy substances, wastewater, mixed sewage and activated sludge in wastewater treatment plants, and for applications in irrigation and drainage pumping stations.
Installation of the discharge tubes requires neither a special intake chamber nor dividers between the pumps. To make sure that the pumps cannot influence each other the lateral distances to the building structure and between the pumps as well as the rear wall distance should be observed.
Amacan S with mixed flow impeller is also a wet-installed submersible motor pump in discharge tube. It is used in irrigation and drainage pumping stations, general water supply, water pollution control and flood control.
KSB submersible motor pumps: Amacan P with mixed flow impeller
Applications are versatile for wet-installed, single-stage and single-entry submersible motor pumps in discharge tube like Amacan P with axial propeller: In irrigation and drainage pumping stations, for stormwater transport in stormwater pumping stations, raw and clean water transport in waterworks and wastewater treatment plants, cooling water transport in power stations and industrial plants, and for industrial water supply. The submersible motor pump is particularly suited to water pollution control, flood control and aquaculture applications.

Three impeller types: optimized for handling different fluids
What impeller type is best suited for a specific application depends primarily on the properties and composition of the fluid handled (see illustration “Recommendations for fluids handled”) and on the pumping task. Submersible motor pumps in discharge tube have proven very successful in all their applications.
