Dhabeji Pumping Station - A landmark achieved by KSB Pakistan
In 2016, an international EPC tender was held in Karachi – one of the most densely populated cities in the world – for the construction of a new pump house. KSB Pakistan, together with its consortium partners for civil and associated mechanical work, qualified both technically and financially for this project.
The contract was signed on 2nd November 2016 with a construction period of three years followed by one year O&M. The contract included engineering design, civil works, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation work as well as installation and commissioning of the entire system. The KSB scope of supply was worth 6.70 million euros, primarily consisted in designing the pump house with the main equipment supplies.
With excellent support from KSB teams in Germany, Italy and France, 6 vertical RDLO pumps (RDLO V 600-885 A1 GC PF) and a wide range of valves were part of project supplies. For the civil works, 7.800 m3 were excavated, followed by 4.500 m3 of concrete and approx. 650 tonnes of steel bars. The piping for the pump house, ranged from DN 100 to DN 2000 of approximately 120 metres. KSB Pakistan successfully completed this landmark project within the stipulated timelines. Trouble-free commissioning of this project was highly admired by the client (Karachi Water & Sewage Board) as well as the consultant (M/s Osmani & Company Private Limited) and fully endorsed KSB’s professionalism in planning and executing such a complex and challenging project. Backed by the experience gained from such a collaborative project, KSB Pakistan is eyeing various large EPC projects across Pakistan, especially in the water and sewerage segment.
