Electricity from the earth: Geothermal power plants provide sustainable energy.
The energy from the upper three kilometers of the Earth's crust could, in theory, cover the current global energy demand for over 100,000 years. However, in order to economically harness this stored energy, the various primary and secondary processes in a geothermal plant must run with maximum safety and reliability.
This requires high-tech components that can be relied upon at all times. This is because highly aggressive media (geothermal brine) are sometimes extracted, which tend to crystallise and can cause disruptive deposits in the piping system, valves and pump hydraulic systems.
Additionally, in hot wells with temperatures of up to 200 °C, the geothermal pumps used require a special design with a higher flow capacity and the lowest NPSHr requirements.
Operators who do not use suitable, high-quality components here risk higher maintenance costs and expensive failures.
